How Wawasan came to be
Wawasan was set up in Kuala Lumpur by consultants who had spent years watching small business owners receive advice that wasn't built for them — frameworks drawn from large-company thinking, delivered with urgency, and priced in ways that assumed something was wrong. Most of those owners were doing well. They just needed space to think.
The name Wawasan means vision or perspective in Malay. It was chosen because that's what most of our conversations come down to — helping an owner see their situation from a slight distance, so the next step becomes clearer without any pressure attached to it.
We opened our doors on Jalan Sultan Ismail with a small team and a deliberate approach: go slowly, ask more than you tell, and leave the owner calmer than when they arrived. That's still what we do.
Our Mission
To offer small business owners in Malaysia the kind of thoughtful, unhurried guidance that helps them make decisions they feel confident about — without being sold to.
Our Approach
We listen first. We work at your pace. Every piece of advice we offer is shaped by your situation, not a generic model. Our aim is to leave you with clarity and a realistic plan you can act on.
Who We Serve
Owner-operated businesses in Malaysia — typically between 1 and 30 staff — at any stage from first-year clarity to multi-year growth or succession planning.

Our working standards
Written outputs every time
Every engagement produces something written — a priority map, a growth plan, or a summary — so the conversation doesn't stay in the room.
Strict confidentiality
Business financials and owner conversations are kept strictly private. We do not share client information with third parties under any circumstances.
Plain language, always
We do not use consulting language to appear more valuable. If you don't understand what we've written, we rewrite it until you do.
Scope agreed in writing
Before any engagement begins, both parties agree in writing on what is included, what it costs and how long it lasts. No surprises.
Ongoing professional development
Our consultants participate in regular training on Malaysian business regulations, SST compliance, EPF obligations and SME financing changes.
No product recommendations
We do not earn referral fees from software vendors, banks or insurers. Our recommendations are free from commercial influence.
What guides the way we work
Small business consulting in Malaysia carries a particular responsibility. Owners who come to us are often making decisions that affect not just their income, but the livelihoods of their staff, the welfare of their families and their sense of what they've built. That context shapes everything about how we engage.
We treat each owner as a capable adult who understands their business better than we do. Our role is to offer structure, ask useful questions, and surface information that may be sitting just outside the owner's immediate view. We don't presume to know what's best — we help owners figure out what they think is best, and then support them in moving toward it.
We work with owners across sectors including retail, food and beverage, professional services, light manufacturing and creative industries. The business stage matters more to us than the industry — what a first-year retailer needs is genuinely different from what a ten-year-old services firm navigating succession needs, and we adjust accordingly.
Our consulting practice is built around quality of conversation rather than volume of clients. We take on a limited number of engagements at any one time, which means the team member you meet at the start of your engagement is the same person guiding the work through to completion.
